INTENDED USE
For in vitro quantitative determination of HDL-C in human serum or plasma.
CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
The determination of HDL-C in the blood, as the epidemiological investigation of low HDL-C as a single risk factor for ischemic heart disease was reported, the increase or decrease of its blood concentration has been used as an important indicator of arteriosclerosis [1, 2].
ASSAY PRINCIPLE
Cholesterol esterase (CHER) and cholesterol oxidase (CHOD) are used in combination with a special complex to reduce the enzyme reactivity to LDL, VLDL, and chylomicrons, and only selectively interact with HDL-cholesterol. Based on this principle, LDL, VLDL, and chylomicrons are combined with special complexes in the first step, and chemically modified CHER and CHOD are used in the second step to directly determine HDL-cholesterol.
