For in vitro quantitative determination of carbamazepine in human serum.
CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE
Carbamazepine is the drug of choice for the treatment of epileptic seizures (such as generalized or partial seizures, simple or complex partial seizures) [1,3,4,6], and it also has good efficacy in the treatment of trigeminal neuralgia [2 ,5]. There are three reasons for the control of carbamazepine concentration in the blood[1,3,4]: 1) The pharmacological activity of carbamazepine is related to the concentration of the drug in the blood rather than the dosage; 2) the metabolic process of carbamazepine is due to Individualization and long-term treatment will vary greatly, especially when used with other drugs; 3) The blood carbamazepine concentration is safe and effective within a narrow range. Based on the above reasons, monitoring the blood concentration of carbamazepine is an effective way to assist clinical treatment, improve the treatment effect, and reduce the risk of toxicity.
